Conserved flags are mounted, but not attached, to special boards which have an acid-free fabric covering them. The flags are then covered with acid-free tissue and tyvek before being placed into specially designed holding containers where they will stay until brought out for inspection or display. Conserved flags are currently stored at the Resource Center. A flag storage room is currently under construction at the NYS Military Museum in Saratoga Springs, NY. Potentially over 300 conserved flags will be stored in this room. The Project's goal is to have a flag archive facility where the conservation, storage and study of all the flags can occur under one roof.
